DTAA

Businesses, nowadays, are vast with their legs in more than one country. While this brings opportunities in terms of wider market and cost optimisation incentives, however, it also brings into the loop taxation laws of different nations. Multi-nationals often face the challenge of double taxation as multiple laws become applicable on them. To address the same, the countries enter into one-to-one agreements, called as Double Tax Avoidance Agreements (DTAA) wherein the nature and taxability of transactions involving 2 or more states is defined.

Though the DTAAs are well in place, however, they are complex to apprehend and can have far-reaching implications. Thus, it requires expertise and knowledge of professionals like Aplite to implement and derive benefit. Our professionals at Aplite are well-versed and highly experienced to handle international taxation cases. We have a history of solving complex tax situations and finding effective solutions for our clients. Let us get into detail to know more about the documents required to claim the benefits under DTAA.

Documents Required

1. Tax Residency Certificate (TRC): It is a document issued by the Governments of respective nations as a proof to entities incorporated in their countries. Benefits under DTAA are country specific and thus, the legal authorities demand this certificate to vouch for the taxpayer’s origination.

These certificates are issued by the tax authorities of the countries, in general. In India, TRC is issued by the Income Tax Department. We, at Aplite, help our clients in obtaining these certificates from the department. We handle all the document preparation process and communications with the authorities.

2. Form 10F: It is a kind of declaration demanded by the Tax department of India from the taxpayer to establish his identity and sought tax payment information. It is a necessary document to be provided to claim any benefit under DTAA.

We, at Aplite, help you with all the formalities and necessary documentations required under law. We guide you regarding each and every process to help you complete them at ease.
